REFRACTION, ALLUSION, ALLEGORY
Showcasing three perspectives on photography by Maryland locals Barry Schmetter, Shannon Beatty and Tim Stephens.
Wet plate photography.
Barry Schmetter investigates refraction of light this season in his new series of wet plate prints and observes that “although there is risk in the unknown, wet plate photography imparts serendipity via the process.”
Digital and Kodachrome photography.
Shannon Beatty muses with anthropomorphic allusion in her ongoing series “"Botanicals: Impermanence" as the observant gardener who finds primal beauty in what plants may have to say.
Digital photography and creation.

Tim Stephens combines photography and digital creation in the richly allegorical images for his series “The Rescue” which captures turning-point moments when grace and salvation serve as antidotes to negativity and weakness.
